How My Journey Will Go
In each city, I’ll be spending at least two days. This isn’t a “drive in, wave, drive out” situation — we’re doing this properly.
Day One – The Serious Stuff (With Cameras)
On Day One, I’ll be meeting with:
-
The press
-
Local and regional government representatives
-
Medical specialists and researchers
The goal is to find out:
-
What’s actually being done locally to improve life for Spinal Cord Warriors
-
What medical studies, trials or research projects are happening in that area
-
Where the gaps are — and how we can shine a light on them
This is where we ask the important questions, gather stories, and put spinal cord injury on the local radar in a way that’s hard to ignore.
Day Two – The Heart of the Trip
On Day Two, between 14:00 p.m. (2 pm) and 17:00 (5 pm), it’s time for what I think is the best part:
Meeting local Spinal Injury Warriors.
We’ll:
-
Meet up in real life — not just as usernames in a Facebook group
-
Make new friends who actually get it when you say “I’m out of spoons”
-
Share stories, tips, hacks and “this is how I do it without falling on my face” ideas
-
Support each other on the days when everything hurts and nothing works
-
And remind ourselves, very clearly, that we are absolutely not alone in this
It’s part meetup, part group therapy, part “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry,” and part “compare wheelchairs, cushions and gadgets.”
Serious topic, yes — but we’re allowed to have a good time while we’re still here.
Filming the Whole Journey
The entire journey is being filmed from my point of view:
-
You’ll be able to follow along as I drive, adapt, swear at awkward parking, and roll into new cities
-
Watch interviews with medical specialists, politicians, and advocates
-
Sit in on the afternoon events with local Spinal Injury Warriors
-
See what disabled travel really looks like — the good, the bad, the hilarious, and the hard
At the end of the trip, the plan is to turn all that raw footage into a documentary — part road movie, part awareness campaign, part love letter to everyone who refuses to give up.
